CORAL REEF ECOLOGY AND MANAGEMENT COURSE
Provisional Description
This course will provide a comprehensive introduction to the ecology, function, and management of coral reef ecosystems. Participants will explore the biological and ecological processes that drive reef formation, biodiversity, productivity, and resilience, while gaining an understanding of the complex interactions between corals, fish, invertebrates, algae, and their surrounding environment. The course will also examines the major threats facing coral reefs, including climate change, coral bleaching, pollution, overfishing, and coastal development, and explores the management strategies used to conserve and protect these ecosystems. Through a combination of ecological theory, real-world case studies, and practical management approaches, participants will develop a strong foundation in coral reef science and the principles of effective reef conservation.
